Innovative flip-back panel lets your dock your iPhone 4S/4 without removing it from the case. For the few years of using iPhone and iPad cases from Speck Products, I have had nothing but positive to say about them. I have even had a custom Gadgetsboy case made in the past that is now a decoration because it’s the only copy ever made; having that in mind, I always expect nothing but high quality cases from Speck.
CandyShell Flip has an inner layer shock-absorbent rubber and an outer layer of hard glossy plastic. The outer layer is covered in a nice glossy finish that feels nice to hold and feels solid with iPhone 4 or the iPhone 4S placed inside. The case provides full protection for the back and around the edges of the iPhone making it a really good product for those who are worried about dropping their glass iPhone.
- Around the case, you have various cut-outs:
- the headphone/mic
- sleep/wake button
- the silent switch cutout
- the volume rocker buttons
- the cut out for the 30 pin port and the speaker
- Big camera and flash area
The cut-outs are very well placed for example the camera area is wide so that the flash does not affect your images, the volume rocker and the sleep/wake button are very soft and will respond accordingly; the only issue was the deep cut-out for the silent switch which might require user to insert tip of finger a little deeper to reach the switch.
The unique feature for the CandyShell Flip case is the opening flap for a docking station support; I tested this with Apple’s own dock and it sits flush on the dock with iPhone still protected. The other advantage to this is having third party cables or gadgets like the iTrip FM transmitter that didn’t fit on previous cases can now fit easily thank to the innovative design.
