Since the iPad 2 and the new iPad were released, I’ve been finding new ways to be creative with them.  I’ve used it for taking photos, editing photos, recording and editing videos on the move.  Paper app got released and I’ve been practicing my drawing skills on there also, but one app that took it to another level is the iStopMotion app for the iPad.

Growing up I tried creating my own frame by frame animation using any notepad I can find and I found that was cool especially showing my friends.  iStopMotion app is the app that makes something like that more interesting and creative.

Once installed, users are greeted with a welcome video animation of what’s to come. You can then shoot your animation using  front or rear cameras, or if you want to get more creative you can remotely record your frames using  a free app available with the iStopMotion, providing you have another iDevice with camera built in.   This review was going to be published a couple of weeks back but I heard about the 1080p video support that was going to be released so I waited for that update, which was worth it and even better for final production.

Control the focus and exposure, move your subject, tap the on-screen shutter button then repeat frame per frame till you are satisfied with your animation/motion.  You can shoot at 24fps (Frames per Second).  iStopMotion app allows you to go back to frames and duplicate frames or delete them.  Once you have your movie and you’re happy with it, you can add music and share via email, YouTube, or Dropbox, or save to the Camera Roll.

Overall

iStopMotion was a great experience that  is well worth the price.  If you put it to it’s intended use, it’s  not just another app you buy to fill up your creativity folder then never use again.  It will help the already creative and the easy to use UI will help the first-timers to easily get started and make some interesting clips.  You can even add the clips afterwards to iMovie and add some more effects.  The sharing capabilities are also a great addition to the software since what good are your clips if you cannot show them off to your friends?

You can purchase app from App Store here
