Libratone Live review
:
Elegant and Stylish words I hardly use for Gadgets especially speakers, but the Libratone Live has managed to get those words out of my mouth. Very impressive sound and its fit for it's purpose. Build quality is of high standards to compliment the elegant look. Sound quality is clear and precise and FullRoom technology is definitely a start of good things to come in technology.:
Price is a hefty and you could probably buy a better and cheaper one but will not match the style and build quality.Libratone Live is designed to soundtrack your life. While our FullRoom-technology puts sound in every corner of the room, the AirPlay technology allows you to wander free, playlist in hand. All without dragging audio cables through your entire home.

Following the success of the Libratone Beat, Libratone brings you the Libratone Live, an Apple Airplay version of the wireless speaker. Covered in the finest and softest Italian cashmere, the Libratone Live is a high-end wireless speaker. Perfect for adding to a cinema room, games room or living room. Alternatively, the perfect way to get the party started in a garden party, summer BBQ or house party!
Users can stream music from an iPod, iPhone or iPad or even a PC or Mac by simply using a 30-pin connector or USB (both provided). The 30-pin connector is very small and tidy and plugs into the bottom of an iPod, iPhone or iPad to allow music to stream instanelously up to 30feet while the USB can stream up to 100metres. You can control the music whilst the on the move! The wireless speaker is powered by a mains and features a neat handle for allowing it to be moved to any room – indoor or outdoor (providing it’s not raining!) to allow for music or video/film sound to be played at your convenience.
Design, Hardware and Usability
Weighing 300g heavier than a Zeppelin Air, Libratone Live is a quirky audio product for anyone looking to not only add good quality sound to the ambiance of a party but also add style to the background as well. Looking at the packaging itself, the packaging was one of the best presented packaging I have seen for a speaker, wrapped in a soft sac and manuals systematically placed in a cardboard wallet with labels. Opening up the box you have the speaker in my case the red edition with wool looking cover or finishing over the speaker with minimalism design.
The only visible button is the one for setting up your Airplay and turning the unit around is the power port, the on and off switch and the Aux input for connecting everything else or if you have no WiFi for Airplay. The design is very unusual and I’m used to plastic box or round design with every other speakers on the market but the Libratone Live was pleasing to the eyes with the chrome metallic handle bar which is situated on the speaker with style. The Libratone Live feels heavy and solid and sure to withstand the odd knock or gentle breeze of a beach property whilst enjoying a fresh BBQ in the sunshine. One of the unique selling point of the Libratone Live is the ability to stream audio over WiFi using Apple’s airplay without losing sound quality.
Sound and Performance
I was really impressed with the sound quality especially the bass. When buying audio gadgets it is very paramount that the Bass is good then everything else for me; packing under the hood is it’s 150W power and five amps powering a 5in bass unit, a pair of 3in midrange drivers and a pair of 1in ribbon-based tweeters. The way the speaker is made will enhance the sound quality, with Libratone boasting their FullRoom technology will help sound reflect off the wall creating a wide sound so much like a surround sound system.
I was wondering if you will have to just place your speaker where you want with no interactivity but like gear4, they have a free app for iOS and Android that allows you to tweak the sound a little, giving you better control over the sound quality and it’s almost like your very own equalizer. The sound was clean and every detail of the music I played were of high quality, it matches the quality of the tuned sound system in my car with the right amount of bass pumping in level with the right amount of treble.
Verdict
