Tiki USB Microphone Review
:
Good sound quality and works well recording videos or Skype. Plug and play. Voice isolation is awesome.:
Price a little hefty. The new Tiki is the world’s first USB microphone that mimics the intelligence of human hearing by focusing on desired sounds, minimizing background noise and knowing when to mute altogether.
If you Skype, podcast or do voice overs, you will soon realise that you need a microphone that will need a better microphone instead of using the built in microphone you get with your laptop. Shopping around for one that is portable without compromising the sound quality is top priority and the Tiki USB microphone is one to reckon with.
Unboxing
Design
With the dimensions of 76.2 x 20.3 x 27.9 mm and weighing 1.23 ounces, it is simply portable and with a carry case it can easily fit in your laptop bag for mobility. The casting used around it shows quality and also helps collect sound very well; the snail-like look is also different and just shows Blue Microphone’s effort to make something that stands out from the crowd.
One end of the Tiki is a Type A USB plug with plug and play capabilities with a mode selection button at the other; the sides comprises of two opposite-facing condenser microphone capsules covered in a nice grill housing and sat in the middle of the body.
Functionality and Performance
Tiki delivers exceptional clarity with the noise-cancelling technology, voice isolation and intelligent mute. It isolates the sound required and reduces background noise to dramatically improve the intelligibility of conversations in any situation. You can switch between two modes: Intelligent Speech Mode for communication and Natural Recording Mode for CD-quality recording of podcasts, vocals or instruments. Similar in size to a standard USB flash drive, Tiki’s cable-free design allows it to plug directly into a laptop’s USB port for instantaneous setup.
There is no other way to prove its performance other than to record samples and upload here for your listening pleasure:
Conclusion
You can see that the sound quality is sharp, clear and no crackling or issues at all and for that reason I would strongly recommend the Tiki for recording sound for video, skyping etc. For the price also it is worth it; I also like the fact that it is plug and play no matter whether you have a Mac or PC.
