What's This?

The Xperia Z1 will not be a new brand of smartphone from Sony with incredible camera specs, it will be an upgraded camera on top of an already impressive Xperia Z device.

Sony has been teasing the new device for the past two weeks, showing the waterproof feature, the G Lens camera and some of the other specs on the smartphone. On paper it looks like an avid competitor for the Android top-spot, especially with the 20MP camera.

A new set of photo leaks show the Xperia Z1 in the best detail since we first heard about it, when it was named the Sony Honami. Looking at the different leaks, we can tell this is a dummy model, but the design will be the same as regular units.

Sony has trimmed the side on/off button, on the Xperia Z and Xperia Z Ultra, the button was large enough for any user to tap without problems. The extrusion has been trimmed down, possibly due to the larger home button snagging onto pockets.

The G Lens looks quite impressive, with a 1/2.3-inch and 20.7MP sensor, it is set to be one of the best cameras on the market. Nokia decided with the 41MP camera to add a large lump on the back, Sony has compact the camera to keep the device flat.

Everything is closed once again, showing Sony’s commitment to the waterproof feature. On the Xperia Z, it was hit and miss, the waterproof feature is great for water accidents and if the user wants to go in the pool with their phone, but it made the screen looks awful compared to other 1080p displays.

Overall, we are excited by this device, it is definitely a contender for top-spot, as the Xperia Z was for a time. We just hope Sony makes sure the display is great and the camera megapixels really make a difference.
