What's This?

GadgetsBoy was at Gadget Show Live 2013 today just a day before it kicks off opening its doors to thousands of visitors from all over the UK; we go all around the halls checking out some of the cutting edge technology from some of the best brands from around the world.  Some were impressive, while some were ones we have seen from previous Gadget Show Live, nevertheless they still made some good eye catching appearances.

None of the recommendations should be seen as endorsements but technology we deemed interesting; they vary from gaming, to visual, transportation, audio, car tech etc.

First up is the Pioneer stand who made a huge effort with appearance from DJ Spoony and besides the performance, they had some great car tech on show with new in car touch screen sound system capable of connecting to your iPhone 5 wirelessly and control your entire music library without touching your iPhone; that is a good effort in providing drivers’ safety while driving, taking away the distraction of using their phone whilst driving.

Pioneer also demoed the portable and super-slick DDJ-WeGO , designed with the ability to run off the power of a laptop, it can take the party anywhere and the world’s first wireless DJ controller, the XDJ-AERO with its impressive capabilities, including DJing from a smartphone or tablet.

We also checked out a new product called The Good Night Lamp.

connectedhome

A family of connected lamps that lets you communicated the act of coming back home to your loved ones, remotely; you get a family of lamps that will remotely switch on the rest of the smaller ones when you switch the main one on, we think it would be useful for when you have family or close friends who reside away from you allowing you to let them know when you are home, they can then call you; it can solve the time zone barrier.

Holoxica also impressed with their holographic imaging using holographic laser printed images that projects or comes to light using a bright light source, check them out at Stand FT10, you will have to see it to appreciate it.

A 21 year old engineer, Nick Thatcher with no degree or high level of engineering qualification also brought along a homemade self balancing unicycle; The Raptor is controlled by an Arduino UNO, weighing just 25kg and battery life 90-120mins, the concept is a must see and we hope it makes its way into mass market at some point so make sure you  pop over to check out the technology.

Active Robots – stand FT13 is also a must see, showcasing the NAO. NAO is a programmable, 57-cm tall humanoid robot with a wide and feature rich sensorial network, onboard Intel Atomâ„¢ processor and all advanced, state of the art technology.

Stemming from six years of research and dialogue with its community of researchers and users, NAO Next Gen is capable of a higher level of interaction, thanks to increased computing power, improved stability and higher accuracy.

NAO is capable of speaking, reacting to what you say, recognising faces and objects an understanding and adjusting to the surround environment using it’s sensorial network.

Cambrionix also demoed their 8-port intelligent USB charging station, the Series8, that will charge any 8 USB chargeable devices simultaneously at an optimum rate and can be set to shut power off to each unit once charging is finished.  The nifty gadget will be a must have in every home, and we envisage this to be a standard port installation in every home in the future also.  It feels solid in hand and can be mounted on stand available or wall.

The Last product we think you should check out is Bubblescope, an iPhone 5 photography accessory that is capable of capturing 360 degree images or videos which can then be uploaded for sharing across various social networks. Works very similar to Sphericam which also capture 360 degrees images but smaller. It is made up of  a case for the iPhone 5 and the camera attachment itself

Pictures are taken using the BubblePix app, which is available for free using a code in the retail box of the Bubblescope 360. The app hooks into a social network for these images, allowing you to easily share your images with family and friends or view the images others have taken using the same kit.

We hope you all enjoy your time at the Gadget Show Live 2013 and keep us posted of any gadgets and technology you find interesting.
