What's This?

When going on vacation, there was a time when data usage wasn’t one of the things you plan ahead of your trip. Fast forward to the arrival of Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, Whatsapp, Skype and other social media platforms out there, you now have to think about your data plan and where the WiFi spots will be for all your holiday spam.

I went embarked on a trip to the states for two weeks and data was the last of my worries, thanks to Three UK’s Feel at home program which meant I can take my tariff with me and use as if I were in London.  I’ve always traveled to non-feel at home locations, and the bill that I come back to have never been something I couldn’t cover or expense. For the first time, I felt my heart almost jump out of my chest when I saw how much Three UK saved me; it’s the cost of two return tickets to New York or a lavish holiday in the Caribbean.

You may ask, what was I doing? Well I often checked my email, and I don’t just get emails, I get those with large attachments. I attended a couple of tech events where I was tweeting, shared a lot of pictures on Instagram, checked snapchat, used Whatsapp, Facetimed a lot and as I was in another country with no clue about how to get around, I was glued to Google Maps, Citymapper and Uber.

So what did it cost me? Or shall I say how much did I save? A whopping £875.33! Let that sink in for a moment and just imagine coming home to that bill? Not even my employer would fork out that much in phone bill expenses. So next time you’re planning to go away, check out Three’s feel at home, they might be covering your destination, and why not save some cash?
