What's This?

HTC loves their code-names for smartphones, the HTC One Max was for a long time known as the HTC T6 and the HTC One known as the HTC M6, it looks like the next generation of the One has been leaked, pointing to a launch sometime in the coming months.

The HTC M8 has been rumored before, a post said the smartphone would be successor to the HTC One/Butterfly and will come with the latest version of Sense 6.0, alongside a slew of new components to make it a true next generation device.

From the blurry images we can see the same design as the HTC One, the same aluminium curved back. The HTC M8 does look a little thinner than the HTC One, but it is only by a minority, considering the HTC One is already very thin and light.

Leakers say the HTC M8 will come with a Snapdragon 800 processor, possible updated at CES by Qualcomm, it will also have 3GB of RAM similar to the Galaxy Note 3 and HTC may develop a larger Ultrapixel camera.

The HTC One has been noted as the best smartphone of 2013, it is still top of most lists even with the iPhone 5S, Galaxy Note 3, Nexus 5 and Moto X being announced. Everyone has different tastes, but HTC nailed the perfect smartphone almost on the head.

Problems internally and externally are plaguing HTC at the moment, between management changes and a lot of executives leaving to the first ever reported loss from the company on Q3 this year, it looks quite dim for the Taiwanese manufacturer.

This is in part due to the HTC One series not selling incredibly well. HTC already said the One X, S and V did not do well in 2012 and they have been drawing back resources in 2013, only to hit another loss in profits.

Perhaps the HTC M8 will be the turn of a corner for the company, but they need to really invest money against Samsung and Apple to make the smartphone appeal to everyday consumers.
