What's This?

The HTC M8 has been a topic of discussion for the past few months, but considering the small amount of changes being made between the HTC One and the next flagship, more emphasis has been put on the Galaxy S5 and iPhone 6.

Still, HTC believes their primary flagship device for 2014 can break into several markets and will reveal all at two events on March 25, one in London and the other in New York, at the same time.

The HTC event will reveal the HTC M8, likely to be called the HTC One again. The company may also reveal the wearable they are working on and some other smartphones, possibly the One Mini for 2014 or the Desire 8.

Despite the phone remaining largely unchanged, there will be a few new ideas thrown onto the device, including the dual-camera on the back, possibly to take better photos or allow the user to pick different megapixel sensors.

The size of the device should be bumped up, from a 4.7-inch screen we may see the HTC M8 come with a 5 or 5.25-inch screen. We believe the company will stick to a 1080p resolution, despite Samsung adding a 2K display onto the Galaxy S5.

Internally, it should be more of the same, the 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi ac, LTE-A and possibly NFC.

The March 25 launch date is odd, considering Samsung and LG will be announcing their flagship devices at Mobile World Congress. We believe Sony will also come to MWC to launch the Xperia Z2, although it has not been set in stone.

HTC may feel the dual-launch in New York and London will bring more press to the table, where Mobile World Congress is a minefield of launches and announcements, one the HTC M8 could get lost in.
