What's This?

Apple announced 10 million sales in the iPhone 6 launch weekend, but failed to share the percentages of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus units sold in that time. Some have questioned if Apple’s phablet will be a success or another iPhone 5C failure.

It looks like the early results aren’t too promising, if Chitika’s iPhone results are correct. The iPhone 6 sits at 1.6 percent of all mobile web traffic on the third day, while the iPhone 6 Plus has a measly 0.2 percent of the share.

Moving on to a longer timetable between 9/19/2014 to 9/28/2014, we see that iPhone 6 Plus web traffic share is still minuet compared to the iPhone 6, currently sitting at 2.3 percent on the 28th.

In actual numbers, we would put the iPhone 6 to iPhone 6 Plus sales at around 4:5 iPhone 6, perhaps even a bit higher. It is hard to grasp everything about sales from web traffic alone, although it is one of the best indicators.

In a graph of the first three days, we see the iPhone 5 tossed into the mix. This is a good observation of how the iPhone 6 will elapse the iPhone 5 in web traffic share, but the iPhone 6 Plus will not come close to that amount, if we continue the pattern.

Apple has made an attempt for the past year to market the iPhone 5C. We are not sure how successful the iPhone 5C has been, although worldwide it looks to have a positive effect on some of the low-end markets in Europe and Asia.

Another factor plaguing the iPhone 6 Plus currently is the BendGate issue, showing the larger smartphone has a tendency to bend.

We expect the iPhone 6 Plus will be continued on next year, if only to make a case for the larger screen again and continue to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Note line. For reference, the Galaxy S sells around 50/80 million units, while the Galaxy Note normally sells 20/30 million units.
