What's This?

In a move to secure the same wide audience as the Nexus 4, LG will try to produce the Nexus 5 at the same price as its predecessor, stating at $299 off contract for the 8GB version.

This new report details how LG will make the phone similar to how they made the LG G2. The Nexus 4 looked similar to the Optimus G and we believe Google were impressed by LG’s work last time, despite some supply issues in the first few months.

We are likely to see a Snapdragon 600 chip, 2GB of RAM, 8GB, 16GB or 32GB of onboard storage, a 1080p 4.7-inch display and hopefully a great amount of battery life. The LG Nexus will also come with a 10MP camera, a little lower than the LG G2 13MP shooter.

LG and Motorola seem like the two possible Nexus manufacturers, with no other company named yet. We have heard about ASUS possibly, but Google will probably just keep them focused on the Nexus tablets, including the Nexus 10.

Motorola would make a great Nexus partner and seeing some differentiation in the platform would be great, with this being LG’s second turn. Google has lots of potential partners, we see no reason for the company to stick with the same one for their smartphones.

The LG G2 has a few questionable features, not least the back-buttons we may not see on the LG Nexus. We may see Google go for the normal approach, buttons on the side and top of the device.
