What's This?

Nikon D5100 DSLR

The D5100 is Nikon’s newest DSLR camera. It’s black; it’s got interchangeable lenses and it costs close to a grand. Honestly, if you’re spending more than a monthly Porsche payment on a camera, what you really care about are the specs, so feel free to geek out. The D5100 is packing: 3″ super sharp, 921,000-dot vari-angle LCD monitor, an effects mode (selective color, nightvision, high key, low key, color sketch and miniature options), full HD 1080p (with full-time autofocus), HDR, 16.2MP DX-format CMOS sensor (size 23.6 x 15.6mm), EXPEED 2 processing engine, and an 11 point AF system with 3D-tracking. It works with NIKKOR lenses, SD cards, and external flashes and mics. It’s photography geekdom – along with a number of cool Photoshop effects (so you don’t have to add them later) – all rolled into one camera. In the DSLR world this isn’t a bargain – it’s a steal. $900+
