Nvidia accidentally reveals HTC Nexus 9 in legal document

Nvidia is currently fighting a case against Qualcomm and Samsung, regarding some of the patents on their GPU for the Nvidia Tegra K1. In the legal documents, Bright Side of News spotted Nvidia referenced the HTC Nexus 9, coming this Fall.

Quite a blunder for Nvidia, the lawyers and officials who wrote up the legal document probably thought nobody would scope it out for news. Unfortunately for them, anything that goes public will be read, as manufacturers have often found too late.

The only piece of information in the legal document worth noting is the Nvidia Tegra K1 is coming on the HTC Nexus 9. This is a big upgrade on Google’s tablet line, expected to arrive alongside 3GB of RAM and a 128GB storage option.

HTC will be the manufacturer it seems, this is the Taiwanese step back into the tablet market. Previously ASUS was the main manufacturer for the Nexus tablet line, but the Nexus 7 (2013) did not sell as well as the first generation.

ASUS is not a big brand name for high-end devices, which might be why Google looked for HTC. The HTC One M8 is one of the best smartphones of 2014 and offers a premium design only top-end handset makers like Apple can match.

The Nvidia Tegra K1 offers a lot of horsepower, compared to other chipsets, especially in the graphics department. Qualcomm has been more successful in the past few years when it comes to mobile CPUs, but this year might be better for Nvidia.

HTC Nexus 9 should be the perfect device to accompany a smartphone, fast, powerful and large, with a full HD display. The size also points to a mix between the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10, bringing the two tablet sizes to one middle of the pack size.
