What's This?

Most smartphone cases aim to look stylish and provide protection for your iPhone 5; some even try to keep the thin profile of the iPhone 5 thin whilst still protecting it, however rarely if not never will you see a case like the one from Pong that not only offers those essentials but also have functions that any iPhone 5 user would find extremely useful.

This is not the first time we have tried and still using Pong product, they are tried and tested so we are a big fan; the previous version we have been using is for the iPad Mini and now that they have extended it fo the iPhone 5, its only right we show you.  The Pong rugged case performs three functions besides protecting your device and looking good:

  1. Reduces Radiation Exposure
  2. Opimizes Signal Strength
  3. Conserves Battery Life

Unboxing and Overview video of the Pong Rugged iPhone 5 Case

The case has embedded Pong coupled antenna system between the back layer of the case and the front layer which in turns reduces exposure to wireless radiation by up to 91% below international safety limits; the same antenna also optimizes signal strength with the way it handles the signal as well as serving as an extra antenna for your device.  As anyone who owns the iPhone 5 would testify, the battery life is not the best and that is partly because it is always trying to find a good mast to connect to and using pong’s coupled antenna system, it offers a more efficient way to managing antenna performance so that it is not overworking the iPhone 5 battery when looking for better connection; that would only get worse when 4G/LTE is widely available.

Putting the functionality aside, it comes with a screen protector in the packaging which is bonus and inserting the iPhone 5 is very simple with no danger of scratching your phone during the process. It has all the cut outs needed although the bulk might make it difficult to use attachments or small headphone jack at the bottom area.  The volume rockers are also responsive with no need to press any harder than you normally would, but the vibrate/silent switch is a little difficult to get to, that is because of the slightly chunky nature of the case.  The camera cut out is large, which is good because we had no issue with flash backs on the images taken.  the case generally feels soft and nice to hold in hand.  Even though it adds extra bulk ever so slightly, it still looks good and offers great protection.

Overall it works and does what it says on the tin, although the health implications is not something we can measure here.  The signal strength and battery conservation is however measurable and comparable  it is definitely as good as it says.  If you are looking for a case that protects your iPhone 5, looks good and offers some extra functionality then look no further, this is definitely a recommended product.
