What's This?

Samsung may be looking to add more than one wearable into the world in 2014, alongside the improved Galaxy Gear smartwatch, a new report suggests the electronics giant will launch Galaxy Glass.

This report comes one day after the trade between Samsung and Google to offer out their patents for the next ten years, a move to solidify Samsung’s continued efforts on Android and make new growth between the two companies.

The Galaxy Glass has been worked on since May 2013, back when Google first announced its own Glass project. Samsung has still not revealed any plans for the wearable tech, but reports say they will release it at IFA 2014, in September.

The design of Galaxy Glass is very familiar to Google Glass, the patents show the “glass” where the platform will be projected onto the users eye. There are some differences, Galaxy Glass comes with actually glasses and without the battery pack on the left side.

We are not sure where the software will come from, if Samsung goes with the ‘Galaxy Glass’ moniker we are hearing, it could be a combined effort by Google and Samsung to push the GlassWare platform.

Considering Google Glass may be launched at Google I/O in April this year, Samsung launching its own wearable product is not that hard to imagine, especially if they have been working on it since early last year.

What is interesting is the surge in companies preparing to launch wearables of some kind, at CES this year we even seen Razer, a brand known for gaming accessories, release their own fitness band, the Razer Nabu.

Google may take a commanding lead of this market as well, if it has Samsung on the GlassWare platform, we can see Sony and other current Android manufacturers looking to that platform for apps and software.
