What's This?

It seems like a distant memory now when Google made a vow of über simplicity for its highly trafficked homepage. Introducing magical services like instant (mind reading) search where as soon as you type into the search box you are presented with results that Google believes you want. This feature in particular made sure that users did not site idly on the homepage and were quickly transported to their intended destination (a potential non Google site).

It seems that with the millions of users hitting its homepage every day Google wants to drive more of this traffic to its own offerings and not to third parties. This has lead to what I would like to call “Google Clutter”, with some of Google’s lesser products like Google Plus to mention a few getting preferential treatment taking up valuable real estate, which I personal find annoying.

Rant over.

Google has added a new addition to this growing list of clutter, its newly renamed Android store “Google Play”.  This to me shows that Google wants to seriously drive more traffic to its Store and will stop at nothing to make sure that it becomes more successful than Apple’s App Store.

What next huge banner ads promoting Google Plus?
