What's This?

Internet security is a topic whose importance increases to the extent the use of network transactions becomes more accessible. In parallel, the need for Internet security to be strengthened increases. For this purpose, SSL technology provides the tools with the highest standards and trusted brands insist on their processes to endorse organizations. The two converge on that web users get the best results in quality and reliability.

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) technology is the global standard for Internet security regarding data transmission and privacy, it encrypts the information transmitted on the network and protects data in transit that otherwise could be intercepted and manipulated. In addition, it is compatible with all major operating systems, web browsers and applications as well as server hardware.

Along the same lines, Internet security finds support in trusted brands. Their role is closely linked to the process for issuing certificates. Reason is that to gain the trust of their customers and boost their income, e-commerce companies not only need to protect the data transmitted on their websites, they should also demonstrate how they have done it.  Take for example the well-known gambling site Slots Heaven, this company has implemented SSL technology signed by one of the leading certificate authors, Thawte. Also, among other top certificate authors we can find GlobalSign or Symantec.

It is very important for the user to check that SSL technology is taking place when they are sending sensitive information like credit card data or entering passwords. One of the techniques that criminals use to steal information is known as phishing, which is basically done by impersonating a site like PayPal or even Google and request information from the user by sending them to a false landing page. The best way to avoid this is to check for mistakes in the URL or differences in the emails, and another red flag should be that SSL is not active, which can be easily checked by looking at the URL of the site. If it does not say HTTPS it means it is not encrypted and your information could be stolen by a third party.

  1. ‘Internet security is a topic whose importance increases to the extent the use of network transactions becomes more accessble.’ – what does this mean? It makes no sense?
