What's This?

The Galaxy S4 will be launched tomorrow, and as the excitement lifts, Samsung has uploaded a rather shady image of their newest flagship smartphone to the web, for added buzz. Samsung Mobile US posted this image on Twitter, with the update:

“The countdown for #TheNextBigThing has begun. Who’s ready for the Global Unpacked Event on March 14?”

Even though the photo does not show much, it does resemble the image leaked on Chinese forum 52Samsung. In many ways, the Galaxy S4 seems to share the same design as the Galaxy S3, and the only big change will be the size of the device.

The Galaxy S4 is pegged to be a top of the range smartphone at launch, with a 1.8GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 13MP camera, 64GB of internal storage and 4,000mAh battery life.

According to inside sources, the Galaxy S4 will be packed with new software Samsung has been developing, as they try to step up their game to match Google and Apple’s creative software dominance.

For the first three iterations of the Galaxy S smartphone, Samsung has cared little about software, slapping a nature TouchWiz skin on top of Android and adding a few small apps for users to try out.

With the war against Android owner Google imminent, the South Korean company will be stepping up its game, possibly offering their own versions of Maps, Now, Email and Docs in the coming years.

Of course, Samsung already have their own operating system brewing, Tizen OS, which they will be shipping their budget smartphones on. Android will be closing the platform soon, we suspect, and Google will start licensing the software out to hardware manufacturers.

Samsung is ready to throw all it can against Google while the software is still open for manufacturers. This includes the eye tracking software we have heard rumored recently.

The Galaxy S4 will be released in Times Square tomorrow.
