What's This?

VeriFone Media has successfully tested NFC payments in their large install base of taxi payment systems, allowing Orange customers with a Samsung Galaxy SIII and Barclaycard Visa payWave app the opportunity to pay for their journey by simply tapping their phone against the card reader in the back of the cab.

With more than 5500 taxis in the fleet accepting NFC payment, along with contactless and traditional card payment, checking your wallet for cash is no longer a necessary evil before hailing a cab, and it’s faster too!

VeriFone Media is part of VeriFone Systems Inc, a leading global provider of technology that enables electronic payment transactions.

*Orange customers with a Samsung Galaxy SIII and the Barclaycard Visa payWave app are the first in the UK to be able to use an NFC phone to pay for their journeys, by tapping their phone against the card reader installed in the cab, in the same way as a contactless debit card, for amounts under £20.
