What's This?

Foxconn is reportedly employing 10,000 workers per week to prepare for iPhone 5S production. The Chinese manufacturer halted employment early February, but has started grabbing more workers.

The Zhengzhou plant will be the main base for Foxconn’s production of the iPhone 5S, and the plant already has around 300,000 workers, with 10,000 being added a week since late March.

Foxconn officials have denied the rumours, stating the employment spike has happened so Foxconn can meet client needs. This is very vague, as Foxconn have a lot of clients, including Amazon, Google and Microsoft.

Foxconn executives have been less vague, stating the reason for the production boost is to cater for the new iPhone 5S production and to make sure there is enough older models.

Apple has asked the manufacturer to work on more iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 models, after the company noticed a huge demand for in developing countries for the cheaper smartphone.

This may push Apple to make a cheaper plastic iPhone with lower components, to cater for the emerging markets more directly, instead of them buying old models they want to discontinue.

The report concludes the iPhone 5S production will start second-quarter 2013, with a release date sometime this summer. The iPhone 5S will come in a range of colours and with a fingerprint sensor, if recent leaks have any truth.

Apple is hoping to revive the stock problem they are having at the moment. With a new line of products and a possible new operating system we may see some change.
