What's This?

Since late last year we heard about Google’s music streaming service that could ‘take on Spotify, Rdio and Pandora’ all at once. It was then that the buzz was created but with I/O later today, we could be hearing about it. As Google has a fair few licenses for it’s Youtube and their play store it won’t be hard for The Big G to get this one down, and with rumors that Sony, Warner Music and Universal are behind them on this it could be big.

Google have tried twice before to get into the music business only to have it’s most recent, Google Music, to flop drastically as it is no match for iTunes. But music streaming is relatively new and that’s why they may have gone down this route. Since Google already have Youtube, this could given them a huge step up on Spotify and as it’s apparent they’ve been testing the water with Freeium business models with the new Youtube channel update, they may be able to give the same service as Spotify but at a cheaper premium price. With all this being said, Google have disposable income coming out of their nostrils and this could just be a long shot down another route for the internet overtaking. We will just have to see!

Google I/O is today at 9am PST (12pm eastern time) or 2PM over in the UK and we’ll definitely be watching!
