What's This?

With both current customers and potential customers surfing the internet before they make decisions on purchases, travel plans or anything they are planning to implement, it is only right that businesses start to think about how they can improve their digital presence or improving their technology infrastructure in order to match up to where their customers are turning to for answers.

Improving Digital growth begins with realising that times have changed and technology is in fact moving fast; a research conducted by TalkTalk Business shows that 2/3 of businesses expects growth in the next year and businesses who didn’t improve their digital footprint only grew by 4% compared to those with high web presence who grew by 22% which is a big gap between them, thinking about their digital/web presence and those who aren’t.

It starts with improving efficiency from within; improving from within could be that they increase their broadband speeds with ISPs such as TalkTalk business broadband, buying faster computers to cope with fast paced environment and if they have staff who are still in the stone age when it comes to their technical skills, they should be sent on courses to improve their skills and bring them up to speed with everyone else in the team. Research shows that 22% of SMEs said they are held back by skills gap amongst staff, so it should be something they should be addressing to make sure everyone is on the same page.

Most businesses would measure growth by sales and research also shows that SMEs experienced 51% increased sales due to effective marketing and wider geography because of the use of Technology to help reach those areas they have never been able to reach before. Performing simple market research for your business that involves harvesting huge amount of data would require fast broadband speeds, fast computer systems/infrastructure in order to get those data efficiently and very quickly, so what would normally take months should now be taking weeks or less to complete.

Summary:
To use Technology to your advantage, here are three steps you need to take to see Business Growth

  1. Improve your IT infastructure (Broadband connection, Computer hardware, servers, update website etc)
  2. Train staff so that all staff are up to speed with anything new you have updated in step one
  3. Use step one and two to your full advantage (market research, tap into social media, blogging etc)
