What's This?

Gadgets make the world go round (not literally – that’s gravity or something) and there are few places where gadgets and technology are more beneficial than that of the home. All homes today will typically have an abundance of technology in every room of the home and there are some pieces of technology that property owners should be keeping an eye out for in 2013. Let’s take a look at three of the best:

Lockitron:

There are some incredibly clever pieces of technology hitting the market in 2013 and amongst the most innovative is that of the Lockitron device pictured which will make those worries about your home security a thing of the past. If you’re anything like me i.e. incredibly forgetful, then there will be days when you leave home for work and, by the time you’ve sat down on the train, will have convinced yourself that you have left your doors, windows or both unlocked.

Well, with the Lockitron device, this needn’t be a cause for concern any longer because you will be able to lock your doors remotely via an internet connection and an app on your smartphone. This is a highly impressive piece of technology and one that homeowners the world over are likely to consider for their properties in 2013 in order to ramp up their home security.

LiGo BlueWave Mobile Hub:

There are plenty of things that will drive homeowners mad but there are few things that are more annoying than living in a house that is a mobile phone signal “dead-zone” where you calls continually drop off. It’s not until you’ve lived in an area like this that you can fully appreciate how annoying a lack of mobile phone signal can be but this can be a thing of the past in 2013 with the LiGo BlueWave  Mobile Hub. This impressive bit of kit will allow you to use your home phone to make and receive mobile calls thus eradicating the annoyance of dropped calls from lack of signal.

Kohler Numi Toilet

Whilst a toilet may not seem like the most obvious choice for a must-have piece of technology for the home in 2013, it certainly is when the toilet is as awesome as the Kohler Numi pictured above. Boasting plenty of features not typically associated with toilets, such as a touchscreen remote, ambient lighting and a built-in music player. Which, safe to say, makes it the don of toilets and perfect for those homeowners who want to ramp up the technology in their home. It isn’t cheap (costing over £4,000) but it is certainly plenty awesome so if you’ve got the available cash to splash out on the ultimate in toilet, then you won’t go too far wrong with the Kohler Numi.

So, there you have it, that’s my list of three gadgets that homeowners should be looking out for in 2013. Such is the rapidly changing world of technology, there are plenty of other pieces of gadgetry that are sure to be essential this year too but these three are certainly a good place to start.
