HTC may have made an error when creating the HTC One brand, simply because naming the successor the HTC One Two is a very odd choice – one we cannot see the Internet accepting without some mockery.
For now, the HTC One successor is hidden behind the classic codename, HTC M8. The ‘M’ naming convention has been used by the Taiwanese company for a few years now and is a teletale of the next big release.
While we already have heard multiple rumors on the HTC M8 and what it should be rocking, this is a big bit of news showing the smartphone is close to release, possibly citing a release date in the next few months.
WiFi certification is something all smartphones go through and with the beady eyes of leakers and writers always spotted the tinniest leak on the net, we are starting to see a lot more devices spotted by this certification.
The HTC M8 will be have dual-band WiFi a/b/g/n/ac, this is a pretty good move for HTC, adding both dual-band technology and the latest WiFi standard ‘ac’ for faster Internet speeds.
We still do not have the full list of specs, but the HTC M8 is reportedly going to come with the quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM and 16/32GB of internal storage.
On the design front, the HTC M8 will remain the same as the HTC One, the same brushed aluminium with the curved back to fit into the users hand. We will apparently see more colors on the HTC M8, with most leaks showing a blue smartphone.
Another feature change on the HTC M8 will be the display, the new standard for Android smartphones in 2014 will apparently be 2650 x 1600, a lot higher than 1080p most Android OEM partners have been shooting for with their high-end devices.
The impression is HTC will announce this smartphone at MWC 2014 in February, as this is reportedly where most Android partners will launch their flagships, including Samsung, LG, ZTE and Huawei.
