It’s been a long time coming, but it’s finally here—Xiaomi finally announced the debut of the Redmi Turbo 5 Max, which packs quite an impressive specs sheet. Xiaomi is clearly aiming for rival midrange devices with the Turbo 5 Max, which comes priced starting at just around $360. While it is currently exclusive to China, we’re still keeping our fingers crossed that it eventually rolls out to Western markets. For now, here’s what you can expect with this phone.

One (literally) big feature of the new handset is its battery, which comes in at 9,000mAh. For context, this greatly exceeds what most other manufacturers are putting in their phones, a lot of which max out at 5,000 to 6,000mAh. It also charges pretty fast at 100W wired speeds, so you can easily top-up your battery whenever you’re in a rush. It can also reverse-charge other devices at 27W speeds, which is a handy feature to have in tight situations.

Another major highlight of the phone is its chipset—for the Redmi Turbo 5 Max, Xiaomi has opted to go with the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s, which should be more than enough to run most games on the device. You also get a dedicated cooling system, which means that the phone can go for longer than most without warming up too much, even with extended playtimes. The phone is available in a handful of RAM and storage configurations, which max out at 16GB and 512GB, respectively.

The front of the device features a large 6.83-inch AMOLED display that can get incredibly bright at up to 3,500 nits, and it also supports up to a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother visuals; additionally, the display houses a fingerprint scanner as well as a 20MP front camera for selfies and video calls, and is wrapped in a glass and metal chassis which is available in white, blue, orange and black colour variants. Flip the phone over, and you’ll be greeted by a dual-camera setup which includes a 50MP main camera and 8MP ultrawide camera.

As with every Xiaomi phone out there, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max comes with Xiaomi’s Hyper OS skin (as well as a ton of preloaded apps), which runs on top of Android 16. There’s no word yet on a Western launch, although some are speculating that the phone might be relaunched as part of the POCO range in certain markets.
