What's This?

Anyone who’s into their music would have heard of the Sennheiser brand; they offer devices from headphones, microphones at both consumer and pro level for studios, TV and radio, just to mention a few.  When you buy a Sennheiser device, you know you are investing in a brand you can trust, it is almost like buying clothes from Armani vs buying from Primark, maybe a poor comparison, but you get the idea.  You are buying a Masserati vs a Fiat, you end up with a premium device that offers great performance, durability and a design you can proudly wear.

The RS 195 is an intelligent pair of  wireless headphones that allows you to take your music away from bigger audio source and make it yours.  Whether you want to be able to control the levels, roam around the house or just simply change the bass and trebles without disturbing others, the RS 195 is exactly what you need.  With an adjustable headband, you can adjust it to fit your head size, the ear cups are also comfortable and enclosed your ears without causing any discomfort, especially wearing it for a prolonged period of time and in the comfort of your home.

RS 195 features:
  • Closed headphones with excellent digital wireless audio transmission: exceptional clarity and range of up to 328ft/100m (line of sight)
  • Choice of settings to tailor sound to individual hearing requirements (7 pre-sets)
  • Left/right balance control to adjust the volume in each ear
  • “Speech mode” to eliminate background noise and enhance speech intelligibility
  •  “Music mode” to reproduce delicate nuances using an increased dynamic range
  • Compatible with analog and digital audio inputs, as well as toggling between inputs
  • A sophisticated ergonomic design ideal for long periods of comfortable listening

When you unbox the RS 195, you will notice the middle docking station which allows you to recharge it when not in use and what I really like about that is it doesn’t just serve as a charging station but when it comes to having things in their own place if you have OCD like me, you will soon realize it is nice to have a docking spot just for the RS 195, perhaps sitting next to the TV.  Set up requires no need to read the manual, and the controls are clearly labeled to know what you are doing as soon as you have the right cables plugged into the right ports.

The headphones itself have come controls on the ear cups that’s worth mentioning as it is easy to miss them due to the way Sennheiser have made it so that it blends in.  On the right side, you will find the power button with LED indicator light next to it to show when power is on and when you are running out of battery power.   On the outside of the same side, you will see the mode and volume buttons.  Other than that, the rest of the buttons are on the docking stand; on the stand you will find  the input selector, digital optical input and analogue, indicator light and on the other side of it, you will find the balance and a knob for adjusting the hearing boost settings which allows personal optimization or speech intelligibility and music.
Overall the RS 195 is very comfortable, durable and works over a good range without compromising the sound quality.  I have enjoyed the freedom it brings to listening to music in my own space and even in the office, it’s easy to walk around with it around my neck and not worry about my music.  The only negative point to mention is that it’s quite pricey and you can only enjoy the experience at a destination so at home or office, it can’t be used on the move as a normal wireless headphone.
