A while back, we got word that AYANEO was preparing to launch a new addition to its gaming handheld lineup with the Pocket VERT, a device which packs a premium design as well as a powerful processor, and is designed to take on the likes of other gaming devices such as the Analogue Pocket, for example. That in mind, AYANEO has finally (and officially) launched the handheld, which comes in a handful of different price configurations.

Available in Midnight Black and Moon White colour options, the Pocket VERT starts at $339 for the base model which comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage, with an early bird price of $269. There’s also a 12GB + 256GB memory and storage variant which comes priced at $419 with an early bird price of $349, and finally we have the exclusive Lava Red version which also comes with a 12GB/256GB configuration, albeit at a slightly more expensive price of $439.

In terms of specs, the AYANEO Pocket VERT features a 3.5-inch LTPS display with a pretty-sharp 1600×1440 resolution and 615 PPI, offering 10x GB point-to-point pixel accuracy and 450 nits of brightness. It’s also reasonably compact, measuring 86.4mm × 143mm × 20.5mm with a chassis that’s designed using full-body CNC precision carving, and also includes an all-glass front which covers the display and the control area. More importantly, the device runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, which should ensure pretty smooth performance in general.
Much like the classic Nintendo Gameboy, the Pocket VERT features a vertical layout with a D-pad and ABXY keys, all crafted from a transparent “crystal-like” material that catches and refracts light, which AYANEO says provides a more premium look. Other controls include a side-mounted scroll wheel, as well as AYANEO’s MagicSwitch key, which supports long-press access to a function menu and provides default volume control.

One interesting feature found on the Pocket VERT is a dual-mode touchpad positioned just below the buttons on the front of the device. The touch zones can be mapped to mimic left or right analog sticks, dual-stick mode, and even mouse input. Additionally, the VERT also features shoulder buttons which further complete its aesthetic with a diamond-cut design on the rear panel.

Other features on the Pocket VERT include a massive 6000mAh battery, a stereo speaker setup, and a built-in software system that revolves around AYANEO’s “AYASpace” and “AYAHome” software, which offer a smooth experience with features like customizable buttons and AI translation. Given all these features, it seems that AYANEO has another winner on its hands especially considering the capable processor, large battery and attractive design.
