What's This?

The race for Android flagship smartphone domination isn’t slowing down anytime soon, and the competition has only gotten fiercer each year. With that in mind, Honor finally announced the global launch of the Honor Magic 6 Pro, its latest premium Android handset. Originally released back in January of 2024 for select markets, the device will finally make its way to more regions worldwide.

With that being said, the Honor Magic 6 Pro does come with some new features both inside and out, but is it enough to sway would-buyers from opting for the competition? Let’s find out.

New Display Features

Not unlike Apple’s iPhone 15 series, the Honor Magic 6 Pro comes with a front-facing camera cutout that adds a bit of software functionality such as for notifications, tracking, and more. Referred to by Honor as the “Magic Capsule” feature, the cutout allows users to interact with apps and software services without the actual need to go into their individual apps, saving a bit of time in the process. As for the front-facing camera itself, the phone comes with a 50MP sensor in front which can shoot 4K videos at up to 30 fps.

The handset features a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display, which is sharp thanks to the 1280 x 2800 pixel resolution, and likewise features a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, and can get insanely bright at up to 5,000 nits of peak brightness. Interestingly, Honor has coated the display with its custom NanoCrystal Shield that features a layer of silicon nitride coating or enhanced protection.

Powerful Internals

Powering the phone is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, a flagship-level SoC that’s been in use on a number of flagships from several manufacturers including OnePlus and Samsung. the chip is designed for improved performance, graphical capabilities including ray-tracing, as well as generative AI features, to name a few. This works with up to 16GB of RAM, as well as 1TB of internal storage, although the phone does feature a base model with 12GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

For software, the phone comes with Honor’s Magic OS 8, which runs on top of Android 14. Magic OS does come with some apps which are exclusive to Honor, such as software designed to sync better with other Honor devices such as laptops and tablets. Meanwhile, the phone packs a large 5,600 mAh battery that can charge pretty fast thanks to 80W wired and 66W wireless charging speeds.

Camera Hardware

As for optics, the Honor Magic 6 Pro comes with an impressive camera setup including a 50MP Ultra-Wide Camera (f.2.0, EIS) a 50MP main Camera with variable aperture capabilities (f/1.4 and f/2.0, OIS), as well as a 180MP Telephoto Camera Lens (f/2.6, OIS) with 2.5x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom. Video recording meanwhile maxes out at 4K resolution with options for 60 and 30 fps.

There’s also a wide variety of built-in camera features, including Honor’s AI Motion Sensing Capture, an advanced AI capture algorithm that can predict and capture decisive moments in ultra-high definition. This means that users looking forward to capture sports and activities as well as moving subjects will have little problem capturing the moment.

The Magic 6 Pro will be available in Black and Green starting at £1,099.99, and can be purchased from HiHonor using a £250 off subscriber voucher when users subscribe and use the code AM6PP250 in checkout.
