What's This?

Having an iOS device is not the best thing when it comes to storage space and with no expansion available you have to rely on cloud storage which can be expensive. Furthermore moving data from and to your iOS device can be challenging also, iTunes is not the most user friendly software to synchronise files such as images videos music and other documents you may need.

The iStick is a great nifty tool to have as it allows you to easily move files between your iOS device and your computer. On one end of the device is a standard USB and using the sliding mechanism you can reveal the lightening port connector.

Weighing just 10 grams and measuring 2.031in x 1.125in x .358in,  the iStick is so light and portable, there really is no excuse not to be able to carry it around with you. You can also use it to transfer files from one iOS device to another. It comes with a carry case with a lanyard attached for portability and with a strong ABS plastic construction, it is rugged enough for taking around with you.

The free application that accompanies the iStick is very easy to use, you can simply browse your files, move files and even back up your contact list so if you are ever changing phones, you can easily restore your contacts.  The application also supports music and video playback directly inside the app as well as opening document files.  When it comes to the file transfer speeds, you can expect to get up to 12 MB/s (Read)  and 7.5 MB/s (Write) when transferring from iStick via USB or  2.5 MB/s (Read)  and 1.9 MB/s (Write) when transferring files from iStick to iDevice.

The iStick supports a wide variety of file formats. For videos you can transfer .mp4,.m4v, .mpv, .mov; .mpg, .mkv, .wmv, .flv, .3gp, .gif file formats, .wav, .aac, .aif, .aiff, .caf, .m4a, .mp3 Audio files, .jpg, .tiff, .gif image files and .doc and .docx; .htm and .html; .key; .numbers; .pages; .pdf; .ppt and .pptx; .txt; .rtf; .vcf; .xls and .xlsx ; .zip; .ics documents.  With so much variety of file support available, you can use the iStick as a true file transfer companion, whether you are a professional or a casual user.

One downside to the iStick is the price. For around £59.99 pounds, you can get the 16GB version and that could be the deal breaker for many people, although it is worth the purchase.  Of course, if the 16GB size is too small, you can go up to a 128GB capacity or if you want a smaller storage size, you can drop to the 8GB version too.  The iStick is very versatile, it supports both Mac and Windows platform for file transfer and that makes it very easy to move files from your computer to your phone and vice versa.
