What's This?

With a lot of new technology rapidly making its way out onto today’s consumer market it can be a little confusing which way to turn. If you are thinking about investing in a new television but wondering if it’s better to stick with dependable technology than new developments, then read on.

3D television is the biggest thing to hit home entertainment in a number of years but is it really worth paying a little extra for something you’re not sure that you might use? This little article will shows you exactly whats on offer should you be interested in a 3D television, looking at comparisons with other TV formats.

LED televisions

What is led TV? LED stands for light emitting diode which, in essence is a series of lots of tiny lights which are illuminated to provide the picture. LED televisions are backlit, meaning that the source picture is beamed onto the screen via tiny clusters of lights. This leads to a much more dynamic picture quality as these lights are able to operate independently according to what is happening on screen.

A perfect example of this is when there is a scene in a movie which takes place in a dark city alley. A standard television doesn’t have the capacity to independently alter parts of the signal picture, resulting is a dingy, muddy portrayal of the movie scene. With a backlit led this does not happen. Every single pixel is rendered how it was intended by the movie’s director and the backlit screen ensures every piece of visual information is conveyed. In short, you get a much better picture. They are also a whole lot slimmer than standard televisions and look extremely stylish.

LCD televisions

LCD televisions have been on the market for a good few years now. Their one major strength is how completely dependable they are. Able to withstand constant watching over extended periods of time, they are less likely to suffer a malfunction than any other type of television making an LCD TV a good solid choice for families who keep the television in constant use. They also provide a great picture and are available in many different sizes to suit many different budgets.

3D Televisions

Almost brand new to the market are 3D televisions! If you’re looking for the ultimate in home entertainment systems then they are most definitely the one for you. Here, you can enjoy movies exactly as they were meant to be shown on the big screen and not have to wait in line forever to buy tickets, or for the trailers to end! You can also use 3d TVs without glasses and still be presented with truly awesome picture quality worthy of the cinema. Sleek, stylish and often more affordable than you think, 3D television is here to stay.
