What's This?

Following its launch a few months ago for Chinese markets, OPPO has finally announced that its new Find N2 Flip foldable smartphone will now be available for UK buyers. The new device will also make its way to several UK carriers, with different storage configurations.

The phone comes with a 3.62-inch cover display which allows users to view notifications, messages, and other important information. It’s also designed with a vertical orientation, which allows for more details to be displayed for instant viewing. Meanwhile, the phone’s main display measures 6.8-inches, and is designed with a slim AMOLED panel that allows for great viewing angles and colour quality, and a cleaner appearance thanks to a more subtle crease when unfolded. The main display also features a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth viewing and day-to-day usage.

The phone also incorporates an improved hinge design which features OPPO’s Flexion Hinge technology, and FlexForm mode, which allows users to handle the N2 Flip in specific situations like when using the phone as a camcorder and such. The gap around the hinge area has also been redesigned a bit to keep out small bits of dust, and is made to be durable – more specifically, OPPO says that it’s been certified to withstand 400,000 folds, which is a very promising number.

As for internal specs, the N2 Flip comes with a MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chipset, paired alongside 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage for the maxed-out version, as well as a considerably-large 4,300 mAh battery, with support for 44W fast-charging. The phone will come with OOPO’s Color OS 13, its custom Android user interface, on top of Android 13.

OPPO has also loaded some pretty impressive camera hardware on the Flip N2, which includes a 50MP main camera with Sony’s IMX890 sensor, with an f/1.8 lens, accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide camera, as well as a 32MP Sony IMX709 selfie camera for video calls and such. Of course, OPPO has also equipped the phone with its MariSilicon X imaging NPU, which it says can boost low-light performance for photo and video files. The company adds that its camera set-up was co-developed with camera manufacturer Hasselblad.

As for availability, the OPPO Find N2 Flip will be available to pre-order starting February 15th for  £849. It will be available from the following carriers and retailers:

  • EE (Astral Black and Moonlit Purple)
  • O2 (Astral Black and Moonlit Purple)
  • Virgin Media (Astral Black and Moonlit Purple)
  • Carphone Warehouse (Astral Black and Moonlit Purple)
  • Curry’s (Astral Black and Moonlit Purple) – from 19th February
  • Sky (Astral Black and Moonlit Purple)
  • Amazon (Astral Black and Moonlit Purple)
  • Argos (Astral Black and Moonlit Purple) – from 21st February
  • Very (Astral Black and Moonlit Purple)
  • Vodafone (Astral Black and Moonlit Purple) from 2nd March.

It should be interesting to see how this newest entry from OPPO competes with other established foldables like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip series handsets, given that those devices have already gotten a head start in the global market. In any case, it’s always great to see more competition between brands and companies, especially in the growing foldables market.
