What's This?

Perhaps at this point in time, it’s safe to say that the return of wearable manufacturer Pebble was nothing short of a pleasant surprise. After all, the fan-favourite brand managed to gain a considerable following during its first iteration, and its recent comeback was met with praise from long-time fans and folks who missed out on the brand’s initial run. With that in mind, the company recently announced a new addition to its existing watch lineup with the Pebble Round 2.

Right from the get-go, the Pebble Round 2 features a design that stands out from the rest of its current wearable line-up, both of which come with squared-off designs. It does make for a nice bit of variation, especially for buyers curious enough to want to try and pull the trigger but aren’t too keen on square-shaped wearables, and would rather go for a slightly more premium-looking design with a battery that can last most users up to two weeks of regular use.

That being said, the Pebble Round 2’s external build comes with a 1.3-inch e-paper display that sets it apart from most smartwatches these days, a lot of which come with AMOLED touchscreens. It does support touch input though and can display colours, although it’s a lot easier on the eyes. The display is encased in a stainless steel chassis that comes in matte black, brushed silver, and rose gold, and measures only 8.1mm thick. On the side you’ll find three action buttons, which are used to navigate PebbleOS.

Back in March last year, Pebble launched two new watches, consisting of the Core 2 Duo which features a 1.2-inch e-paper screen, a polycarbonate frame that comes in black or white, and a built-in barometer and compass. Meanwhile, there’s also the more expensive Core Time 2 comes with a metal chassis which wraps around a larger 1.5-inch display. Unlike the Duo’s display, the Time 2 comes with touch functionality and a color display, and even features a heart rate monitor.
