What's This?

A while back, Samsung unveiled its latest Galaxy S23 flagship smartphone series, which showcase some of the best mobile hardware and software features from the South Korean electronics giant. As such, Samsung has finally announced that the S23 will now be available for purchase worldwide.

The company also highlighted some rather impressive pre-order sales number, which it says outnumbers pre-order figures for last year’s Galaxy S22 series. This year, 60% of buyers opted to go with the S23 Ultra, which comes with the most high-end specs of the three S23 phones. According to a statement from TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics:

“The great momentum we’re witnessing speaks to customers’ excitement about products that push the envelope and give them the freedom to express themselves creatively. This year’s pre-order numbers echo our customers’ strong trust in our brand and demonstrate how our commitment to ground-breaking innovation and sustainability continues to resonate with consumers.”

Starting on February 17, 2023, the Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 will be available for purchase from retailers, carriers, and through Samsung’s own website. The phones are available in Phantom Black, Cream, Green and Lavender variants. The Galaxy S23 Ultra will also be available in Graphite, Lime, Sky Blue and Red, while the Galaxy S23 and S23+ will come in online-exclusive Graphite and Lime colour variants.

In terms of hardware, the phones are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, one of the most powerful mobile SoCs to date. The base-model S23 comes with a 6.1-inch flat display, while the S23 Plus has a bigger 6.6-inch flat display, and both phones feature a triple camera set up, sans the 100x zoom that you get on the S23 Ultra. The S23 Ultra meanwhile comes with a curved 6.8-inch AMOLED display, as well as additional productivity features courtesy of the built-in S-Pen, a stylus add-on popularized by Samsung’s earlier Galaxy Note series phones.

One of the biggest hardware highlights that Samsung has showcased this year though is the S23 Ultra’s 200-megapixel sensor, which combines 16 pixels into one larger pixel to give users brighter and more detailed pictures, even in low light scenarios.

In terms of software, the Galaxy S23 series come loaded with Android 13 in addition to Samsung’s One UI 5.1 – this means you get exclusive software like Phone link, Quick share and more. There are also features like advanced vision booster which adjusts colour tones and contrasts at different lighting scenarios, which is a pretty cool addition.

As for battery hardware, Samsung has given the three different devices varying battery capacities – the Ultra comes with a 5000 mAh battery, while the standard S23 packs a 3900 mAh unit, and the S23 plus has gone up to a 4,700 mAh battery. With that said though, the S23 Ultra comes with support for 45W fast-charging. We actually have a hands-on video discussing the different hardware and software features of the Galaxy S23 series, which you can check out on YouTube.
