Samsung has announced a new line-up of high-end monitors at CES 2023, offering premium hardware for users looking for the best-quality monitors for their gaming, entertainment, and productivity needs. The company announced four new products, each with their own specialties – let’s take a look.

Samsung Smart Monitor M8

First off the list is Samsung’s Smart Monitor M8, which features a slim design and now comes in a new 27” size (expanding on the existing 32” variant). Available in Daylight Blue, Spring Green, Sunset Pink, and Warm White, the Smart Monitor M8 comes with 4K resolution support, as well as an adjustable stand for optimum viewing quality.

As you can probably tell by the name, the Smart Monitor M8 can connect and work with hundreds of compatible connected devices via Samsung’s SmartThings Hub, and this includes lights, cameras, doorbells, locks, thermostats and more. Additionally, Samsung plans to expand device choices and usability by supporting Matter functionality and Home Connectivity Alliance standards from this year onwards.

The Smart Monitor M8 also comes with access to Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, YouTube and other streaming services, as well as Samsung’s own Gaming Hub with support for Game Streaming platforms. The monitor also comes with a SlimFit camera, complete with 2K resolution for use in video-conferencing apps.

Samsung Odyssey OLED G9

For users after a curved display, the Odyssey OLED G9 comes with a dual quad-HD 49” 1800R curved display, with a 32:9 ratio. The monitor also comes with quantum dot technology, and its OLED lighting is controlled on pixel-by-pixel basis, allowing a “near-infinite” color contrast ratio and better-looking colors.

It’s also designed for gaming, and according to Samsung the G9 boasts a 0.1ms response time, coupled with a 240Hz refresh rate to eliminate lagging and skipping. It also comes with Samsung’s Gaming Hub, so you can stream games using NVIDIA GeForce and Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming platform. Like the M8, it comes with built-in support for video streaming apps as well.

Samsung Odyssey Neo G9

For a larger display, you might want to go for the the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 Gaming Monitor, which comes with a 7,680×2,160 resolution and a 32:9 aspect ratio. Samsung says that its the first of its kind, and it packs some impressive features.

The monitor comes with a 1000R curved 57” screen with a 240Hz refresh rate, that uses quantum mini LED technology with VESA Display HDR 1000 specification. This allows it to deliver superior imaging during gaming, from shadows to bright scenes. It also features a matte-coated display to reduce glare.

The Odyssey Neo G9 also comes with the world’s first DisplayPort 2.1 support, which according to Samsung can transfer data approximately twice as fast as the DisplayPort 1.4. There’s also built-in DP2.1 for lossless industry-standard Display Stream Compression (DSC), allowing it to transmit information without distortion.

Samsung ViewFinity S9

Geared towards productivity, the Samsung ViewFinity S9 comes equipped with a 27” with a whopping 5K resolution. The monitor also comes with a wide color gamut of 99% DCI-P3 for sharp visuals, and its average Delta E ≦21 color accuracy also produces clear and precise color representation.

Samsung has equipped the S9 with a built-in Color Calibration Engine for precise screen color and brightness, allowing users to adjust elements like white balance, Gamma and RGB color balance for example, which can easily be done via a smart device through the Samsung Smart Calibration app. There’s also a matte coating on the screen to reduce glare.

The USB-C and Thunderbolt 4 connections allow users to connect cameras and other devices to the monitor for file transfers and more. There’s also a SlimFit camera onboard with 4K resolution, which can be used for video calls and such.
