What's This?

Apart from Android phones and general home electronics, Samsung also manufactures a ton of different storage hardware from SD cards to external hard drives. As such, the company recently unveiled its latest addition to its wide selection of memory card models, with the Samsung PRO Ultimate lineup. The new cards feature Samsung’s flagship UHS-I memory card technology, and features up to a capacity of 512GB and 200MB per second read speeds.

Speaking about the new cards, Hangu Sohn, Vice President of Memory Brand Product Biz Team at Samsung Electronics states:

“With the growing volume of high-resolution content generated from gadgets such as drones, action cameras and DSLR cameras, professional creators should be able to work with large–sized content seamlessly, whether they are writing, reading or transferring their data… As creators rely on high speed and performance of the memory cards, the new Samsung PRO Ultimate significantly reinforces such needs through enhanced controller technologies and multi-proof protection features.”

Samsung says that the PRO Ultimate’s UHS-I interface enables SD cards to achieve read speeds of up to 200MB/s (the maximum speed achievable with this kind of technology), as well as write speeds of 130MB/s. These allow users to transfer heavy-duty files including 4K ultra-high definition (UHD) video and Full HD (FHD) video, complete with Video Speed Class 30 (V30) support.

In terms of availability, the PRO Ultimate microSD card will be available starting today, and will be sold in three different storage capacities of 128GB, 256GB and 512GB, starting at $20.99 for the 128GB model to $64.99 for the 512GB card. The PRO Ultimate microSD card with the card reader ranges from $28.99 for 128GB to $72.99 for 512GB, while the PRO Ultimate SD card is offered in four storage capacities of 64GB, 128GB, 256GB and 512GB, starting at $18.99 for 64GB to $84.99 for 512GB. Finally, the PRO Ultimate SD card with the card reader ranges from $26.99 to $92.99 for the 64GB and 512GB cards respectively.

The PRO Ultimate SD card will be available worldwide later in October, and a card reader-included option for all capacities in both sizes will be available for buyers. Samsung adds that all card models will come with ten-year warranties.

LE Audio Updates

The company also recently announced that it will soon bring updates for several of its products including the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, Samsung 2023 Neo QLED 8K TV and 2023 Micro LED TV models – the new update will arrive in September, and will bring LE audio compatibility, as well as Auracast broadcast technology. Junho Park, VP and Head of Galaxy Ecosystem Product Planning Team, MX Business at Samsung Electronics states:

“As an innovator across a wide range of electronic devices — from smartphones to wearables, and from TVs to home appliances — we at Samsung are in a unique position to capitalize on delivering more seamless and extended experiences… LE Audio is a perfect example that shows our commitment to connected experiences across our entire library of devices, and how Samsung is introducing new capabilities and technologies that bring them all together.”

Samsung adds that users might want to tune in for more announcements during IFA 2023 in Berlin, which is scheduled for 1-5 September. The company teases that more information regarding its products and upcoming updates will be unveiled during the trade show.
