What's This?

As the year is drawing to a close, you would have heard about the term “Internet of things” by now, otherwise, a quick explanation of what it is, is simply in the term itself.  A bunch of things connected by the internet for a smarter living, and in most cases makes life a whole lot easier as it could mean, being able to control things from the palm of your hands and from anywhere, as long as the internet exists.

Sonos speaker systems is a small part of internet of things, in the sense that it can be integrated as part of other systems you have at home.  Sonos speaker systems rely heavily on your home network and they are very easy to install with just a couple of buttons to press and everything else happens on your smart phone, whether you have an iOS or Android device.

Once connected to the WiFi network and setup is complete on your smartphone or tablet, you will be able to sign in to your Spotify account or other music services available such as soundcloud, Tunein Radio or your own iTunes music library.  The smarter living benefit of Sonos speaker systems is that you are in control of what music is playing from each speaker, you can even pair the Sonos Play 1 for example and make it a left and right speaker system for a complete surround sound effect.  You can also get the Sonos bridge to have a dedicated router and if you purchase the Sonos Playbar, you will be able to connect that also.  Connecting the Sonos Play 1, Play 3, Playbar and other Sonos systems together can be incrementally implemented so over time you can keep adding more speakers till your heart is content.

Sound quality is very good also, no matter what music genre you are into, you are always going to have the best sound.  You also get access to some equalizer settings, so you have a better control of how your music sounds to your taste.  If you happen to install a Sonos speaker in your bedroom, you can also use it as an alarm, so you can wake up to your favourite song, although I would set a song that is bound to wake you up rather than one that will soothe your mood for longer sleep.  Besides the excellent build quality, they are also portable, making it very easy to move them or rearrange them over time.  The design is very subtle, blending in nicely in any setting.
