It’s been a busy week for sure – Computex 2024 in Taiwan has just wrapped up, and there were a ton of announcements during the event which would probably take several posts to cover. With that said though, we’ve put this quick need-to-know list of stuff that you might have missed in tech headlines, and aside from Computex we also got some new product launches as well. So sit back, relax, and scroll away into the weekend.

MediaTek Shows Off New Chips at Computex

Computex 2024 is simply put, a tech nerd’s dream with some of the biggest brands and companies strutting their latest and upcoming hardware. As such, MediaTek unveiled two new chipsets designed for different use cases – there’s the MediaTek Kompanio 838, which is designed for Chromebooks and promises outstanding performance, multitasking capabilities, and improved battery life thanks to anefficient design and AI prowess, and the MediaTek Pentonic 800, which targets smart TVs and displays for enhanced audiovisual and cloud gaming experiences.

Meet Intel’s Lunar Lake Chips

While a lot of the spotlight has been on Qualcomm lately, it looks like rival Intel has been rather busy as well, with the company recently unveiled the architecture for its upcoming Lunar Lake processors. Scheduled for release later this year, Intel says that Lunar Lake promises significant advancements in both performance and power efficiency. Key highlights include x86 efficiency for longer battery life, a massive leap in graphics capabilities for gaming, as well as AI compute power for a future-proof user experience.

We had a chance to review Sonos’ first-ever headphones, the new Sonos Ace. In terms of features, it comes with 40mm drivers, lossless audio support via Snapdragon aptX Lossless and Apple ALAC, spatial audio with dynamic head tracking, and it can even last for up to 30 hours with Bluetooth and noise cancellation enabled. They also come with a pretty comfy design that’s meant for long music sessions – you can check out our full-length review in the video above.

This Limited-Edition MSI Claw Looks Sick

MSI recently collaborated with Bethesda to launch a limited-edition variant of the MSI Claw, which was unveiled at Computex 2024. Unlike the more “standard” model, the special edition’s design features a look inspired by visual elements from the Fallout game series such as the game’s Vaults, the Pip-Boys worn by Vault dwellers, and a lot more. With that said though, the rest of the device’s internal specs and performance remain the same.

Acer Unveils its First-ever Spatial Computing Camera

And finally, one of the more unique announcements this week comes in the form of the Acer’s SpatialLabs Eyes, a stereo camera that’s able to capture 3D photos and videos for use with spatial computing devices such as the Apple Vision Pro. Acer has designed the camera with a pretty unique look. It features two separate lenses with 8-megapixel resolutions fixed into a rectangular design, and it even supports real-time 3D streaming and storytelling, allowing for better versatility in terms of usage. It will be available in Q3, starting at EUR 549.
