What's This?

It’s a busy time for the smart wearable market—Lenovo recently announced a new addition to its smart device lineup with the launch of the Lenovo Watch Pro, which is currently exclusive to the Chinese market. One of the device’s best features is its impressive battery life, which Lenovo claims can extend for up to 20 days on a single charge. It’s also relatively inexpensive as well, as the Watch Pro is priced at just CNY 499, which is around £50-60 when converted.

Built with a look that leans towards a rugged design, the Lenovo Watch Pro features a 1.43-inch circular AMOLED display, which is pretty sharp with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels. According to Lenovo, it’s equipped the display with a “crystal diamond” tempered glass, which on paper should hold up against daily wear and tear. The watch’s casing is made from a zinc-magnesium alloy metal, which is a much-welcome feature and should be ideal for frequent outdoor use. It also features 3 ATM water resistance to keep it safe from splashes, rain, and brief water immersion.

The Lenovo Watch Pro also comes with a wide selection of health and fitness tracking features—users can choose from over 70 different workout modes, as well as support for detailed metrics like calories burned and activity records. Lenovo adds that the watch supports accurate heart rate and SpO2 (blood oxygen saturation) readings, and even in-depth sleep analysis so users can better understand their sleep patterns and improve rest quality.

As for software, Lenovo has decided to equip the Watch Pro with its own custom operating system (we suspect an RTOS base platform), rather than Google’s Wear OS, which is somewhat expected given its exclusivity to the Chinese market. It also means that the battery can last longer, and its impressive 20-day battery endurance allows it to outlast most smartwatches that would typically require charging every few days (we’re looking at you, Google Pixel Watch series).

As for its availability, Lenovo has not yet announced any plans for a global release, which means that the Watch Pro is pretty much a China-exclusive device for the foreseeable future. Of course we wouldn’t exactly rule out a global release though, given that Lenovo oftentimes re-releases its devices to more regions, sometimes months after their initial debut.
