What's This?

The Sony Honami has been hiding in the shadows for a while now, we have seen a few different renders on what the final phone will be, it seems Sony is preparing the cameraphone to take on the Lumia 1020 and Galaxy S4 Zoom.

A new teaser from Sony shows an unconventional purple shade on its side, covered by the dark black shadow. The phone is tipped for a September 4 reveal, the same date as Samsung’s hyped Galaxy Note 3.

The Sony Honami is definitely going to be a top of the line device, we do not think it will take over the Xperia Z as the flagship, but it will be one of the Sony’s most valued and expensive devices.

It will come with a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 5.0-inch 1080p display, 3000mAh battery and 16GB of 32GB of onboard storage. The real big deal is the camera on the Sony Honami, which will apparently be a 20MP Exmor R camera.

We recently got a look at some of the custom software Sony is bringing onto the Honami device. This includes a bundle of camera software similar to what Samsung slapped on the Galaxy S4 Zoom. Hopefully Sony’s is a little more refined and not all over the place.

IFA is an odd time for Sony to reveal the Honami, not least because they are going up against an incredible competitor, Samsung. The Galaxy Note 3 is one of the most hyped devices this year, to take that on the same day will be a hard task.
