What's This?

Acer has yet to make a big mark on the mobile market, but the new Liquid S2 is set to change the fortunes. Acer will still show off the Liquid S2 at IFA in a few days, but they decided to announce the specs today.

This is Acer’s big push in the market, the Liquid S2 is packed with loads of top end features, including a 6-inch 1080p IPS display, 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage.

Acer is packing some powerful camera technology into the Liquid S2. The 13MP rear camera can record full HD video at 60fps and is capable of recording 4K video. With the lack of screens actually supporting 4K, this does seem a little irrelevant.

The camera will also be able to take 27MP panoramas, another odd feature from Acer. Powering the Liquid S2 is a 3300mAh battery, giving the phablet lots of juice to keep it going. One question we have is internal storage with 4K video, normal videos take a few GB if they are long, 4K may take up the whole storage area in one snap.

Software-wise, the Acer Liquid S2 will run Android 4.2.2 under Acer’s UI with software enhancements and apps, including Acer Float UI, Acer Data Traffic Manager and Acer Print.

No price has been revealed for the Liquid S2, it will be available with black and red colour options on launch, we may see Acer pump out some more if the smartphone is successful. Acer has said the Liquid S2 will be available sometime in October, we are likely to hear more information about pricing and available markets at IFA.
