What's This?

Acer recently unveiled its newest additions to its gaming laptop range, which come with dynamic designs and impressive hardware for unwavering performance for gaming and content creation, along with some additional features that set them apart from competing devices. One of these is the company’s most powerful gaming laptop to date, the Predator Triton 17 X.

One standout feature of the laptop upon first sight is its unique combination of a minimalist design with powerful internal specs. The laptop’s exterior comes with a polished, sandblasted texture on a solid metal unibodywhich features the RGB Predator logo, stainless-steel speaker mesh, and diamond-cut highlights.

The laptop can be configured with a 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13900HX processor with new performance hybrid architecture features up to 24 cores at a 5.4 GHz max turbo frequency. This works alongside NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, built with the ultra-efficient NVIDIA Ada Lovelace architecture and AI-powered DLSS 3 for full ray tracing. There’s also Max-Q suite of technologies for optimized system performance, power, battery life, and acoustics. Users can configure the laptop with up to 64 GB DDR5 5600 Hz memory, and up to 4 TB PCIe solid state drives in RAID 0.

The Triton 17 X also features a 17-inch (16:10) display, which includes a configuration that features a WQXGA mini-LED (AmLED) display with 250 Hz refresh rate, a brightness of over 1,000 nits, a DCI-P3 100% wide colour gamut for vibrant, rich colours and is also Eyesafe Certified as a low blue light display. There’s also NVIDIA Advanced Optimus and NVIDIA G-SYNC as well.

As for cooling capabilities, the Predator Triton 17 X features a vapour chamber that houses a compressed cooling system, which allows the laptop to handle heavy performance. Acer has also equipped its Vortex Flow technology that comes with a triple-fan cooling system, with two custom-engineered 5th Gen AeroBlade 3D fans and wind-guiding structures, which the company says helps achieve up to a 10% increase in airflow versus previous generations of AeroBlade 3D fans. The laptop also uses dedicated heat pipes for the processors in addition to several intake and exhaust vents, alongside liquid metal thermal grease on the CPU for better efficient heat transfer and performance.

Other hardware details include a per-key RGB keyboard, a fingerprint reader for biometrics, and even a glass touchpad. The laptop also packs a DTS:X Ultra and surround sound six-speaker system for better-sounding audio, and more immersive experiences. Also included is the Intel Killer E3100G+ Ethernet and Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E AX1690i, as well as several connectivity ports including a Thunderbolt 4 port for dual 4K displays or a single 8K display, with data transfer speeds of 40 Gb/s and 100 W power output. There’s also an SD 7.0 card reader, which delivers speeds of up to 985 MB/s.

As for availability, the Predator Triton 17 X will be available for North American markets in May, starting at USD 3,799, and in EMEA in June, starting at EUR 4,499, and in the UK from May/June from GBP 3,999.
