What's This?

Apple is reportedly starting to experiment with different iPhone and iPad sizes, as the company tries to move away from the one model solution. With Samsung and Google infesting the mobile market with all different sizes of smartphone, Apple is starting to lose market share, hitting about 18% worldwide.

With the iPad Mini showing how easily Apple can be back in the lead with a new size and price tag, they may be looking to explore scales on the iPhone, after asking manufacturers to ship over phones larger than four inches to Cupertino.

Apple may also be looking to change the game again with the iPad, apparently getting manufacturers to ship over iPad’s with 13-inch screens. This could be a move to stop some of the Windows hybrid PCs currently hitting the market.

We have always thought it would come to this day, where Apple could have to expand inventory to battle against Android and Windows. In the PC race, they divided it into the Mac Pro, Mac, Mac Mini, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air and still failed to gain huge market share, although year on year Apple is now beating most manufacturers combined.

By splitting the iPhone into different sectors, we could see the iPhone Mini, the iPhone Pro and the regular iPhone. The Mini would be smaller and less powerful and the Pro would have more juice and larger size. On the iPad side we could see the iPad Air, a very thin version of the iPad, the Mini and the Pro, with a dock and keyboard.
