What's This?

I guess you could say that it was partly “overdue”—Apple finally announced a handful of new models to its Watch lineup, giving fans and users a bit more in the way of choice when picking out wearables to pair up with their iPhone. That being said, the new lineup consists of the Apple Watch Series 11, SE 3, and the Apple Watch Ultra 3. Priced at £396, £219, and £749 respectively, the new devices keep things mostly familiar while adding some new tricks.

First up is the Apple Watch Series 11, featuring comes with a thinner design and a Space Gray colour variant. It’s available in 46mm and 42mm sizes, and Apple says that the display is now twice as scratch-resistant thanks to an enhanced Ion-X Glass. The watch is also powered by the S10 SiP and comes with 24-hour battery life, with a rapid charging feature that provides eight hours of use from just a 15-minute charge. Other features include support for 5G connectivity, a new Hypertension detection feature, an improved Sleep Score function, and support for Live Translations.

Up next is the more affordable third-generation Apple Watch SE, which also comes with the S10 SiP processor and support for Gesture Detection. The SE 3 also comes with key features such as Heart Rate and Wrist Temperature Sensing, alongside Sleep Score and a new Sleep Apnea Detection feature, as well as Live Translation like its more expensive sibling. The SE 3 also packs a tougher screen which according to Apple is four times more resistant to scratches, and also includes an Always-On Display. Other features include up to 18 hours of battery life, as well as support for 5G connectivity.

Finally we have Apple’s top-level smartwatch, the Watch Ultra 3. It’s powered by the S10 SiP processor as well, along with support for 5G connectivity and Satellite Communication for those situations when more “conventional” means of connectivity aren’t available. Apple adds that it’s worked on improving the battery life, which on paper can now last for up to 42 hours for regular use.

Apple hasn’t changed the design however, as you could easily mistake the third-gen Watch Ultra for the older models. On the other hand, it does feature a somewhat new display with 3000 nits of peak brightness, with a new 1Hz LTPO3 Always-On refresh rate. Interestingly, the Watch Ultra 3 also comes with Hypertension notifications which should come in handy for users facing such health issues. The new Apple Watch Series 11, SE 3 and Ultra 3 will be available for pre-order starting on September 12, with sales going live on the 19th.
