The popularity of Honor’s new 400 series has certainly allowed the brand to capitalize on the more affordable side of the smartphone market, thanks to several handsets under the 400 range. With that being said, it looks like the brand is preparing to launch a new addition to the lineup in the form of the Honor 400 Smart 5G, a budget-friendly device that undercuts a lot of competing phones within the entry-level segment. What does it come with though? Let’s find out.

The Honor 400 Smart 5G was initially spotted online for European markets, although we wouldn’t be too surprised if it makes its way to more regions (such as here in the UK). That being said, the phone is clearly aimed at buyers who only need the essentials, and don’t want to spend too much on a new smartphone. Up front is a 6.77-inch TFT LCD display with a resolution of 1610 × 720 pixels, which is an easy indicator of its budget origins. It does feature a hole-punch display setup though, which makes for a cleaner look (unlike Samsung’s new Galaxy A17).

As for its design, the 400 Smart 5G is relatively unremarkable, with a “standard” look that’s befitting of most budget smartphones such as the wide chin and plastic build. On one hand though, the lack of a glass back means that this will be a lot more durable than most smartphones out there.
Take a look inside, and the phone comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset, a smartphone processor that’s designed mainly for entry-level devices. It should be enough for most day-to-day tasks like web browsing and social media apps, and maybe even some light gaming every once in a while. It’s also accompanied by 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, another tell-tale sign that it’s a phone made for more budget-conscious users. It does pack a large 6,500 mAh battery though, which means that it can easily last you for more than a day.

As with most budget devices, the Honor 400 Smart 5G features a seemingly-versatile but basic camera setup, which consists of a 50MP main camera and 2MP depth sensor, with a 5MP camera in front. For software, the phone will come with Android 15 onboard alongside Honor’s own Magic OS, as well as a selection of pre-installed third-party apps. No price has been revealed yet, but given the specs we reckon that it’ll be much cheaper than the rest of the Honor 400 series.
