LG G3 leaked back buttons and new sensor

The LG G2 brought in the South Koreans hardware design flair, sporting a gorgeous front screen with almost no bezel and on-screen buttons, but the back really reflected wacky ideas becoming actual features on a device.

Instead of putting the power and volume buttons on the side or top of the device, the LG G2 had them on the back, apparently right where the user’s finger sits, when holding the device, although its questionable if this adds anything to the device.

The LG G3 will continue the trend of back buttons, with a leaked photo showing the on/off button with the volume controls above and below the button. This comes alongside the rear camera, flash and another unknown sensor.

Our money is on a heart-rate monitor to catch up with Samsung, we doubt it is a fingerprint sensor given the size and we doubt LG is adding double flashes on either side of the rear camera, even if this sounds like something the manufacturer would try out.

Others have said it could be an IR blaster, but it is a rather odd place for LG to add the sensor. The HTC One (M8) showed the best place to put an IR blaster, on the top of the device, something we hope other manufacturers adopt.

The LG G3 will reportedly come with a QHD display, meaning this will be the second device to get the 2560 x 1440 resolution display. Reports also say it will be a polycarbonate build with microSD slot for more storage.

We expect to see the LG G3 event in a few months, possibly around June/July time. The previous G2 event was held in August, but with the surge in popularity for mobile devices, it has caused some manufacturers to be quicker when it comes to releasing their newest smartphones.
