What's This?

It looks like all the rumours were true—months after initial info that Samsung was working on an upcoming super-foldable , the Korean tech giant has finally and officially unveiled the Galaxy Z TriFold, its biggest foldable device so far. Samsung has also revealed several features of the device, which will launch this December for buyers in Korea.

Unlike the Z Fold and Flip series, the Z TriFold will feature a much larger display that blurs the boundaries between smartphone and tablet. When opened, the device’s main screen measures 10 inches, which matches the size of a lot of tablets. Samsung says that the folding display uses a Dynamic AMOLED panel with a 2160 x 1584 pixel resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. it’s pretty slim when unfolded, measuring at just under 4mm.

When folded up, there’s a 6.5-inch cover screen in front with a 120hz refresh rate, a 2520 x 1080 pixel resolution and a peak brightness of 2600 nits. Samsung says that it’s made changes to the device’s overall durability, with better-reinforced hinges and a coating for the folding display as well. Additionally, the phone features a triple-camera setup on the rear with a 200MP main, 12MP ultrawide and 10MP telephoto cameras, and two 10MP front-facing cameras on the cover display and inner display for selfies and video calls.

Inside, the Galaxy Z TriFold is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip instead of this year’s 8 Elite Gen 5. The 8 Elite is still a powerful processor, although this decision to go with an older processor is certainly a head-scratcher. You also get a choice of 16GB of RAM, and 512GB to 1TB of built-in storage (no SD card slot, obviously). The battery is a bit small though considering its size, coming in at just 5600mAh; it’s also limited to 45W charging speeds, which pales in comparison to what we’re seeing from other manufacturers.

There’s no official word on pricing yet, although estimates are betting on either $2500-$3000 once the phone launches worldwide. Samsung is also offering buyers a six-month trial on Google AI Pro, with access to features in the Gemini app such as Veo3 and 2TB of secure cloud storage. Finally, the Z TriFold comes with a one-time 50 percent discount on display repair costs.
