What's This?

Samsung recently announced that it will be adding a new accessibility feature on its range of 2023 TVs and monitors, by way of the “SeeColors” mode. This function will essentially provide different colour settings which are based on different degrees of colour vision deficiency (CVD) that users might have.

When using the SeeColors mode, users will have access to nine different picture presets to choose from, allowing them to pick out the best or most suitable one based on their needs. SeeColors mode will adjust red, green and blue levels to let viewers easily distinguish between colors on the screen depending on their degree or type of CVD. Seokwoo Jason Yong, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung states:

“We are thrilled to introduce additional accessibility features, including SeeColors and Relumino mode, in our 2023 TV and monitor lineup to assist individuals with color blindness and low vision… Under the vision of ‘Screens Everywhere, Screens for All,’ we will continue to innovate and bring inclusive technologies closer to our consumers.”

SeeColors was originally launched as an app back in 2017, although it was not available for a wider range of devices at the time. Users who have a 2023 Samsung TV or monitor can expect the feature to arrive via a software update, and will be able to access it through their device’s accessibility menu.

In other monitor-related news, Samsung’s Odyssey G9 monitor was released for global markets, bringing the high-end monitor to more regions worldwide. In terms of hardware, the Odyssey G9 measures 49 inches in size, and features AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, in addition to offering Dual Quad High Definition (DQHD; 5,120 x 1,440) resolution with a 32:9 ratio. It also comes with a suite of Samsung-exclusive software features and apps, including the Gaming Hub.

The Odyssey OLED G9 series also includes the G93SC model, which comes with the same hardware specs but omits the built-in smart software features including Samsung’s Gaming Hub, for users who are strictly after the display itself.

Going back to the SeeColors feature, users who purchased a model from Samsung’s 2023 TV and monitor lineup, including the Neo QLED, QLED, OLED, Smart Monitor and the G95SC gaming monitor will have access to the feature later this year.
