Audio giant Sennheiser recently announced the HDB 630 headphones, its latest addition to its large selection of high-end audio gear. Much like the brand’s other products, the HDB 630 headphones are designed for a more premium listening experience, which according to Sennheiser combines advanced tuning alongside the aesthetic of its MOMENTUM 4 range.

Sennheiser says that the core of the HDB 630 features a custom-built acoustic system with a 42 mm dynamic transducer, which itself is paired with acoustic treatments designed to produce smoother mids, more intimate vocals, and faster dynamics. The headphones also include a high-resolution digital audio engine that supports both wired and wireless listening—when connected via USB Type-C port (or an analogue cable), the HDB 630 can natively support music at up to 24-bit, 96 kHz resolution. For wireless use, there’s support for Bluetooth 5.2 with aptX Adaptive codec. The headphones do ship with a bundled USB Type-C transmitter dongle, which is a much welcome addition.

The HDB 630 also comes with new sound-shaping tools which are accessible through the Smart Control Plus app. In addition to standard genre presets and 5-band EQ modes, the headphones come with “Crossfeed,” which gently blends the left and right channels to simulate a speaker-like presentation, which Sennheiser says can be less fatiguing than hard-panned mixes typically heard on most headphones.

Users also get access to a Parametric Equalizer that allows listeners to boost and cut frequencies with more precision than a traditional graphic EQ, with user-adjustable bandwidth (Q) controls and filter types. These custom settings are applied directly to the headphone’s internal processing, so users can enjoy their preferred tuning regardless of whichever app they’re using to play their music. The app also enables users to share their favorite presets with other HDB 630 owners, and even customize features like Adaptive Noise Cancellation and on-head detection.

As for endurance, the headphones can last for up to up to 60 hours of battery life per charge, with a quick-charge feature providing 7 hours of listening from just a 10-minute charge. The Sennheiser HDB 630 will be available for pre-order on October 8th for £399.90 and is scheduled to ship on October 21st, and will come bundled with a USB Type-C charging cable, 3.5 mm analogue audio cable, airline adapter, and the USB Type-C Bluetooth transmitter.
