What's This?

Bose recently announced a new addition to its SoundLink lineup with the new SoundLink Home, a compact Bluetooth speaker that according to Bose comes with powerful audio performance. Priced starting at £219.95, the speaker is now available for pre-order from Bose and will hit store shelves on 10th September. What else does it come with though? Let’s take a look!

Available in Light Silver, Cool Grey and Warm Wood variants, the SoundLink Home packs a pretty sleek look that manages to blend modern aesthetics alongside a classic feel. The speaker comes with an anodized aluminium design as well as a fabric grille, and there’s also a built-in stand that makes it easy to place pretty much anywhere in your home. It’s also relatively small at 21.59cm wide, 11cm high, and 5.94cm deep, and weighs just under a kilogram—suffice to say, it’ll have no problem fitting in most corners or shelves around your home.

For sound, the speaker comes with a full-range transducer and dual passive radiators for a more punchy bass sound, and you can further customize your listening experience by linking up another SoundLink Home speaker for stereo sound with left and right channel support. For connectivity, the speaker supports wireless devices thanks to the addition of Bluetooth 5.3, in addition to USB-C audio support which allows users to plug in their devices with a physical cable.

As with most Bluetooth speakers, the SoundLink Home also features a built-in battery, which according to Bose can last for up to nine hours—this also makes it ideal for trips to the beach, cookouts, and other situations wherein you might want a bit of music in a fairly-compact package; users can also top up the battery with a 2.5-hour charge if needed. Finally, there’s also a built-in microphone for voice calls (when connected to a phone). Interestingly though, the speaker doesn’t support any of Bose’s mobile phone apps, which might limit EQ customizability.

Bose’s new launch comes not too long after the arrival of Edifier’s G2000 Pro speakers, which feature a more gaming-oriented design in contrast with features such as customizable RGB ambient lighting, support for HECATE Gaming Center Software for different sound modes, and compatibility with home consoles such as the PS5 and Xbox Series, and even the Nintendo Switch.
