What's This?

If there’s anything we’ve learned in the past few years, it’s that content creators now have an even larger selection of different gear to choose from, and that includes everything from mirrorless and DSLR cameras, portable microphones, all the way down to pocket-friendly action cameras. Speaking of the latter, hardware manufacturer Insta360 recently unveiled the X4 Air, its newest addition to its portable camera lineup under its X series.

The Insta360 X4 Air is now available with a Standard Bundle priced at £359.99, and a Starter Bundle which includes an Invisible Selfie Stick and extra battery at £389.99. But what exactly do you get with this one?

As you can imagine, the X4 Air is designed to be extremely lightweight, and in fact it only comes in at around 165 grams, making it one of the more pocket-friendly cameras available on the market. Despite its portability though, Insta360 says that the camera has been engineered to withstand most outdoor situations with different environments and temperatures, which means that it’s safe for underwater video recording, snowboarding sessions, and more. The X4 Air comes with replaceable lenses that are designed for better drop resistance, in addition to waterproofing for up to 49 feet of depth; it’s also available in Graphite Black and Arctic White.

Given that it’s designed for more active recording scenarios, it does come with Insta360’s FlowState Stabilization and 360° Horizon Lock, meaning that your footage should remain steady in most conditions. The X4 Air also comes with dual 1/1.8-inch sensors and can record 360 video in 8K resolution, something that’s not often seen on most compact action cameras at this price. Other features include AdaptiveTone and Active HDR, which can now work with 8K resolution videos at up to 30 frames per second in different lighting conditions.

Insta360 has also added a number of software features for a more hands-free user approach. Users can access different Intelligent Control features like ‘Twist to Shoot’ when using a selfie stick, Gesture Control, and even Voice Control. Post-production is handled via the Insta360 app’s AI-Powered Editing tools (Auto Edit and AI Frame) which can transform raw 360-degree footage into more polished content. There’s also an InstaFrame Mode which provides Dual Recording, simultaneously saving a standard flat video alongside a full 360-degree version.
